Material Expediter
to join our team at our Port Hueneme facility. This position will play a crucial role in the shipping and receiving of material to and from Antarctica. The successful candidate must have the physical capabilities to stand for the full length of a shift, repetitively lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, and adjust their body position for various physical tasks to include bending, stooping, kneeling, turning, and pivoting. Additionally, the candidate must hold a valid forklift operator certification.Our expected pay range for this position is $23 - $28 per hour.Per contract requirements, US Citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance. To provide the operational and logistical platform necessary for the U.S. to conduct world-class science in Antarctica and maintain its active and influential presence on the continent.
Leidos ASC provides science and logistics support for approximately 150 science and technical events across three geographically remote research stations; McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and South Pole Station and several deep field sites across Antarctica. Each station or field site supports world class research across multiple science disciplines. The planning and implementation of science support requirements in Antarctica is a critical part of our mission.To learn more about the Leidos Antarctic Support contract, click here .Your Main Objective:Coordinate shipping and receiving of inbound and outbound material or cargo from various customers/suppliers and locations in a timely manner.
Verify contents of shipment and ensure the correct material or cargo delivered matches the material or cargo requested.
Properly package material based on material type and carrier restrictions, and prepare cargo for loading into a shipping container, commercial truck or onto an Air Force pallet and secure for shipment.
Operate powered and non-powered material handling equipment in conjunction with daily duties.
Ensure cargo tracking system is accurately updated after the material or cargo contents are identified and packed and actual dimensions are known.
Stage material or cargo in the proper waiting area while awaiting transport via commercial air or surface.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with Material Expediting team members and Documentation team members.
Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices to assist in promoting a culture of safety awareness among the team.
What Sets You Apart:High school diploma or the equivalent.
Minimum of three (3+) years of diversified experience in a warehousing environment including experience shipping and receiving freight; experience in the transportation or supply industry is a plus.
Experience with loading cargo into containers for ocean shipment; hazardous material handling certification is a plus.
Valid forklift operator certification. Must be able to operate forklifts up to 10k or higher.
Intermediate proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Must be in possession of or have the ability to possess a favorable public trust, or higher, adjudication.
