Overview:

Under general supervision and medical direction, provides any or all of the designated respiratory care therapies designed to care for patients with deficiencies and abnormalities, which affect the pulmonary system and associates aspects of cardiopulmonary function.This position requires providing care and/or service to a critically ill through rehabilitating newborn through geriatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional and/or developmental age of the individual served.This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support San Gabriel Valley Medical Centers strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).

Responsibilities:Follows appropriate Code Blue notification procedures.Effectively prioritizes clinical interventions and care.Ventilator set-up and operation.Ventilator troubleshooting.ETT Care.Weaning and extubating.Oxygen set-up/administration.Arterial blood gas sampling/analysis.Aerosol medications (nebulizer treatments).Incentive spirometry.Postural drainage/percussion.Humidification therapy.Suctioning (oral and ETT).Pulse oximetry set-up/monitoring.Sputum induction.Intubation (Assist physician).Oral airway management.EKGsThoracentisis AssistBronchoscopy AssistPFT AssistObtains necessary training prior to initial equipment use.Assures equipment is in operating order prior to use.Uses the following equipment in accordance with manufacturers operating instructions. Including, but not limited to:7200A Ventilator7200E VentilatorOxygen administration devicesCompressed air/gas tanksPulse oximetersSuction equipment (wall/portable)BIPAP VentilatorBird RespiratorsArterial Blood Gas AnalyzersPulmonary Function SystemOther Duties as assigned.Qualifications:Education/Training/ExperienceGraduate of an accredited School of Respiratory TherapyBilingual preferredMinimum 2 years of Critical Care Experience requiredMinimum 1 year of bronchoscopy assist experience preferredPulmonary function experience preferredLicenses/CertificationsCurrent CA license as a Respiratory Care PractitionerCurrent BCLS-C CardCurrent ACLS / PALSCurrent RRT preferred
