Overview:
Under general supervision and medical direction, provides any or all of the designated respiratory care therapies designed to care for patients with deficiencies and abnormalities, which affect the pulmonary system and associates aspects of cardiopulmonary function. This position requires providing care and/or service to a critically ill through rehabilitating newborn through geriatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional and/or developmental age of the individual served. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support San Gabriel Valley Medical Centers strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).
Responsibilities: Follows appropriate Code Blue notification procedures. Effectively prioritizes clinical interventions and care. Ventilator set-up and operation. Ventilator troubleshooting. ETT Care. Weaning and extubating. Oxygen set-up/administration. Arterial blood gas sampling/analysis. Aerosol medications (nebulizer treatments). Incentive spirometry. Postural drainage/percussion. Humidification therapy. Suctioning (oral and ETT). Pulse oximetry set-up/monitoring. Sputum induction. Intubation (Assist physician). Oral airway management. EKGs Thoracentisis Assist Bronchoscopy Assist PFT Assist Obtains necessary training prior to initial equipment use. Assures equipment is in operating order prior to use. Uses the following equipment in accordance with manufacturers operating instructions. Including, but not limited to: 7200A Ventilator 7200E Ventilator Oxygen administration devices Compressed air/gas tanks Pulse oximeters Suction equipment (wall/portable) BIPAP Ventilator Bird Respirators Arterial Blood Gas Analyzers Pulmonary Function System Other Duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education/Training/Experience Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy Bilingual preferred Minimum 2 years of Critical Care Experience required Minimum 1 year of bronchoscopy assist experience preferred Pulmonary function experience preferred Licenses/Certifications Current CA license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner Current BCLS-C Card Current ACLS / PALS Current RRT preferred
