STV's Rail Transportation Group is seeking a Civil Engineering Specialist with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience for our Atlanta or Acworth, GA office to work on various civil engineering and construction projects, as they relate to our railroad General Engineering Consulting contract. The main tasks of the position will be to review engineering plans and contractor submittals for public infrastructure projects, coordinate with Agencies and their Engineers to discuss and evaluate their projects and act as an engineering resource for our field construction staff.
Primary responsibilities will include:
Review of various plans and construction submittals for projects occurring on or adjacent to the railroad right-of-way. Submittals are reviewed to be in accordance with the approved plans and Railway specifications to protect the railroad's right-of-way and train operations.Manage and/or coordinate with field engineers and personnel to provide on-site support services to ensure contractors are performing work in accordance with approved plans and construction submittalsDevelop construction estimates for construction managers and engineering staff.Opportunity to perform track design reviews on behalf of railroad clientReview of shop drawings and providing responses to contractor's requests for information.Technical Reviews of PE and Construction submittalsReview of comments for PE and Construction submittals up to the final review.Well organized and can multitask between various project types and submittal types.Interface and effectively communication with OP engineers.Attend conference calls, take minutes, offer guidance, and make recommendations internally.Focus will be on PE and technical construction submittalsReview of General Means and MethodsFalsework plans and calculationsSubstructure installation plans and calculationsSuperstructure installation plans and calculationShoring installation plans and calculationsRequirements:
Bachelor's degree in Civil EngineeringConstruction and/or structural course work is preferred.Minimum of 2 years of experienceStrong skills in construction or civil engineeringStrong working knowledge of various State and local entities specifications and preferences.Experience in use of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD is preferred but not required.High level or organizational skill and multi-tasking.Proficient written and oral communicationExcellent interpersonal skillsProven accuracy and thoroughness.Ability to work independently, or as part of a teamOther positive attributes:
Railway bridge or track design experience is a plus.General Civil Engineering design (i.e. drainage, roadway, land development) is a plus.OSHA 10, Confined Space, or Construction Safety and Health certification.
Compensation Range:$64,044.00 - $85,392.00
