Summary

The Commercial Banking Director manages a team of commercial bankers responsible for building the Bank’s commercial loan business within a designated market area. The Director is responsible for providing client consultation and operational guidance to commercial bankers within the department. The Director may carry a loan portfolio and may also handle the department’s more complex loan packages. This position is responsible for strategic decisions that affect all functional areas of responsibility for loan production within the department. The Director assists with resolving outside operational issues, leads inter-departmental collaboration efforts, and may also oversee Banking Center staffing and operations as needed.

Specific Job Duties

Informs prospective commercial loan clients of the institution’s underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations.Takes loan applications, negotiates terms and closes loans on major projects and substantial loan requests.Evaluates and negotiates potential customer loan requests and makes loan approval recommendations to management, including analyzing applicant’s credit history, repayment capabilities, and collateral specifications.Communicates complex approvals or denials to the borrower.Markets the commercial banking institution’s ancillary products and services to clients.Manages the clients banking accounts for the life of the client’s relationship.Actively participates in the institution’s community activities and maintains close contact with local business owners, potential high net worth clients and prospects.Commercial and industrial lending experience a plus.Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field.Three to five years of experience in a commercial banking setting.Knowledge of commercial lending policies and procedures including state and federal regulations.Strong sales, organizational and interpersonal communication skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with customers about the commercial banking programs and policies.Strong financial and analytical skills.
