The Director of R&D is expected to have advanced scientific knowledge and extensive experience in their respective fields. They must be effective communicators, strategic thinkers, and capable leaders who can drive scientific innovation and research excellence within our organization.Role

Strategic Leadership: The Director of R&D is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for research and development activities, defining the scientific vision and goals, and developing strategies to achieve them.Research Oversight: They oversee and manage research projects, ensuring that they align with the organization's objectives. This may involve leading interdisciplinary research teams and collaborating with scientists, researchers, and other experts.Budget Management: Managing resources and ensuring that research projects are funded appropriately and conducted efficiently.Scientific Innovation: They stay current with the latest scientific developments and technological advancements in their field and identify opportunities for innovation and advancement within the organization.Collaboration: Scientific Directors frequently collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as academic institutions, government agencies, industry partners, and funding organizations, to foster research collaborations and secure funding.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that research and development activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements and quality standards, especially in industries like pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.Talent Development: Play a key role in training and developing scientific talent within our organization. This includes mentoring and providing guidance to researchers and scientists.Reporting and Documentation: Responsible for preparing and presenting reports, publications, and presentations on the organization's research findings and progress to various stakeholders including our customers.Intellectual Property: May be involved in patenting and protecting intellectual property generated from research activities.Ethical Considerations: Ensure that research is conducted with the highest ethical standards, especially in areas that involve human subjects, animals, or potentially controversial research.Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks associated with research projects is another important aspect of their role, which can include issues related to safety, compliance, or project delays.Qualifications
A Ph.D. in a relevant field such as immunology, cancer biology, neuroscience, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, or a related discipline.10+ years of experience in the field of drug discovery or cell therapy in pharmaceutical companies.Proven experience in a leadership role, managing scientific teams and research projects.Networking skills to build and maintain relationships with scientists and professionals in the pharmaceutical industry.A demonstrated ability to think strategically and drive scientific innovation.Experience in building strategic cooperative relationships with key partners.Good understanding of protocol and report documentation.Preferred
Demonstrated expertise in managing and collaborating with Contract Research Organizations (CROs) to optimize research and development activities.Seniority Level

This is a full-time position.Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9am – 5pm. Some evening and weekend work may be required.Travel
Willing to travel occasionally. International travel may be required.
