You will research, plan, design, and develop mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. You will apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

As a Principal/Sr. Principal Mechanical/Marine Engineer, a qualified candidate is expected to be proficient in design and analysis principles, processes, and tools. Mechanical/Marine Engineers support the design, fabrication, and use of Classified Undersea Systems and related support equipment.
Roles and Responsibilities include the following:
Design and Modeling in 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software
Fundamental structural analysis techniques
Drafting using CAD software
Fabrication support for hardware
End-user support during maintenance availability
Conceptual design
Maintenance Support in a marine environment
Integration & Test process flow development & execution
Basic Qualifications for Principal Mechanical Engineer:
Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution plus 5 years of engineering experience
OR
Masters of Science degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution plus 3 years of engineering experience
OR
PhD and 0 years of experience.
Experience with design modeling and drawing efforts using 3-D CAD modeling or related tools such as Siemens NX
Active or Current DoD Secret Clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain, Department of Defense Top Secret with SCI Access and Counter Intelligence Polygraph
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer:
Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution plus 9 years of engineering experience
OR
Masters of Science degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution plus 7 years of engineering experience
OR
PhD and 3 years of engineering experience.
Experience with design modeling and drawing efforts using 3-D CAD modeling or related tools such as Siemens NX
Active or Current DoD Secret Clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain, Department of Defense Top Secret with SCI Access and Counter Intelligence Polygraph
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient in Siemens NX CAD/CAM/CAE
Proficient in ANSYS
Mechanical hands-on aptitude
Basic machinist skills (welding is a plus)
Experience with shipyard environment and familiarity with the Navy JFMM
Basic understanding of electrical systems (schematics, test equipment)
Software familiarity a plus (C, PLCs)
