January 26, 2024, at 5:00 PMList ID: CBT-5207-C00222Under general direction, the Associate Engineer performs professional engineering work in the field and office and supervises the work of junior and assistant engineers, technicians, inspectors, surveyors and other related personnel engaged in engineering projects.The essential functions of the Associate Engineer class include:Preparing engineering designs, drawings and specifications;Preparing cost and quantity estimates for necessary labor, materials and equipment;Providing engineering support to operations staff;Reviewing existing conditions and conducting studies;Analyzing and resolving problems to ensure compliance with regulatory and performance standards;Supervising the preparation of detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations;Assigning and reviewing the work of subordinate staff and consultants;Determining resources necessary to complete assigned work;Verifying quantities, dimensions, safety requirements, and quality of work;Preparing and supervising the preparation of technical engineering reports;Interviewing, selecting, training, monitoring, evaluating and counseling staff;Preparing a variety of bid documents and reviewing bids;Conducting meetings and making presentations.How to qualifyThree (3) years of verifiable professional engineering experience, two (2) years of which must be equivalent to the City & County of San Francisco Class

or higher;ANDPossession of a current Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California in Mechanical Engineering.Substitutions:Candidates licensed in other states who otherwise meet the minimum requirements may file for this examination, and if successful, will be placed under waiver until the required California license is presented.There is no substitution for the required two years of work experience equivalent to a 5203 Assistant Engineer or higher.License or Certificate:Working Conditions:
