What You'll get to Do: Research, coordinate, and support technical engineering staff in the selection and qualification of electronic, electric, and electro-mechanical components/assemblies to ensure they meet product specifications and are reliable, effective, and sustainable. Provide PM&P (Parts Material and Processes) management and analysis to support the next generation Ground Based Strategic Deterrence system. In addition, the candidate will analyze preliminary plans and execute PMMP (Part and Material Management Plan) to achieve company, customer, and governmental agency objectives for product longevity. Component Engineering is a key driver to creating a sustainable system with qualified parts. In addition, you may also get to: Review engineering part selection for qualification alignment to MIL-STD 11991A Assist design engineers in part selections for design conformance Recommend and assist in selecting sources of supply and develop alternate sources of supply Perform part management activities in alignment with PM&P Management Plan Coordinate PM&P Contributor (Analysts) component review activities and manage part review production velocity Ensure existing and new part numbers and descriptions are correct and crossed with manufacturers' part numbers Manage/update part data in product lifecycle management (PLM) system Review and adjudicate non-conforming/variance components before review board, as required Manage approved components for design ensuring life cycle status and qualification requirements Develop, coordinate, and manage qualification testing evaluations of non-standard parts May perform fault analysis of parts Work on material processes, lead-free control plans, and hexavalent chromium management/mitigation strategies, according to program requirements As necessary, propose changes in design or component selection to improve system and/or reliability Drive and support counterfeit parts prevention as derived from SD-22, SAE-5553, and DFARS requirements. Utilize and contribute to PAPL (Program Approved Parts List) and AVL (Approved Vendor Lists) management Contribute to ERB (Engineering Review Board), CCB (Change Control Board), MRB (Material Review Board), and FRB (Failure Review Board), as required Provide support to design personnel regarding cost, availability, and technical advantages of various component choices Provide input to new designs to improve product reliability Develop process improvement recommendations to streamline part selection and review process Prepare materials for and support the various programs and technical meetings Utilize your communications skills and work with little direct supervision This position may be filled as a Principal Engineering Design (Component Engineering SME) or Sr Principal Engineering Design (Component Engineering SME). Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineering Design (Component Engineering SME): Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, for Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, STEM degree or related discipline with 5 years of experience; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 0 years experience with a PhD; An additional 4 years of relevant experience/education can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's of Science Degree Experience with design, reliability, or maintenance, or component engineering Experience working within an Agile framework (Kanban, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint) Experience in electronic and/or mechanical component analysis and selection Must be a U.S. Citizen Clearance

Must be able and willing to obtain and maintain a US DOD Secret Clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) Preferred Qualifications: Domain EEE subject matter expertise (programmable logic, RF, power, radiation hardening, etc…) 2 years working with SD-19, SD-22, and MIL STD 11991A 2 years using IHS Part Intelligence, GIDEP, Part Finder or equivalent 2 years working Knowledge of FRACAS and reliability engineering a plus. 2 years using DLA ASSIST and/or DLA Qualified Products Database (QPD/QPL) 2 year working with CPLM, Teamcenter PLM 2 years knowledge of DFARS requirements for counterfeit components. Salary Range:
$97,500 - $146,300 Salary Range 2:
$120,900 - $181,300 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
