Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is currently seeking a
Software Engineering Manager 2 – Integration & Test
role. This position will be located on site in
San Diego, CA.
The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 10-20 individuals to complete the full software development life cycle in an Agile software development environment. The candidate will collaborate with Systems Engineering, Cloud & Application, Test Automation, DevSecOps and Systems Test to ensure the team is meeting the mission engineering objectives of the contract.
Essential Functions:
Work in a high energy environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels.
Participate in the full software development life cycle including design, implementation, and delivery of software products to our customers.
Operate in a cloud technology development environment working with microservices, object-oriented programming, design patterns and pub-sub messaging.
Work in Agile Scrum teams to develop software products for multiple software baselines.
Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers and integration/test engineers to develop and maintain complex software systems.
Responsible for managing and reporting budget and schedule status for software.
Focal point for earned value and schedule reporting.
Oversee and manage the quality and timeliness of the organization’s products, and identification and remediation of potential issues before they become problems.
Ensure earned value and schedule status is provided as required by the rhythm defined by the program.
Develop and manage detailed budgets and schedules and create work assignments for indirect tasking.
Support coordination and content for program EAC reviews at a rhythm defined by the program.
Provide Functional Management to direct reports, including career guidance, staffing, interviewing/onboarding, and disciplinary actions.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field AND 9 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in software development, OR a Master’s degree AND 7 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in software development.
Prior leadership experience using agile development, including participating as Product Owner, SCRUM Master, and/or team member in an Agile development environment.
Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Experience with Agile software development, object-oriented architecture and programming, software integration and testing.
At least 4 years of recent relevant experience with at least two of the following programming or scripting languages: Java, Python, Go, C++, C#, PowerShell, VBScript, Bash, or KornShell.
Experience with Cloud technologies and service providers.
Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP).
Preferred Qualifications:
Active/ Current Special Program Access.
An advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other STEM discipline.
Proven leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills.
Previous experience leading a team of 5-12 employees with a record of on-time performance.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
