Job DescriptionDescriptionThe Neuropsychologist is responsible for the care of patients in the hospital and clinics, as well as research, educational and advocacy initiatives as determined by the Division Chief and/or Executive Director.QualificationsMinimum EducationDoctorate in Psychology (PsyD) or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from an APA/CPA-accredited college or university. Completion of APA/CPA-accredited pre-doctoral internship, with supervised experience in clinical neuropsychology. Postdoctoral fellowship. (Required)Minimum Work Experience2 years Clinical care focus on pediatric and adolescent populations. This experience may be satisfied through postdoctoral residency training in clinical neuropsychology. (Required)Required Skills/KnowledgeKnowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in the area of expertise.Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.Ability to function independently in evaluating patient problems and developing a plan for patient care.Ability to incorporate ethical concepts into patient care and discuss these with the patient, family, and other members of the health care team.Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.Demonstrates a personal commitment to Continuing Medical Education and remains current on the developments and progress in his/her subspecialty.Demonstrates knowledge of and complies with legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.Required Licenses and CertificationsPsychologist Fully licensed and credentialed attending staff category physician on the medical staff of Children’s National Hospital Upon Hire (Required)Functional AccountabilitiesCommitment to World Class CareProvide clinical services for patients at Children’s Hospital and other approved sites in an ethical, professional and timely manner.Provide oversight of the medical care team and manage direct patient care for a specified patient population; Participate as a member of special care teams, Medical Staff and hospital committees.Specialty DutiesSelect, administer, and score psychological and neuropsychological tests to assess intellectual functioning, neuropsychological status, personality structure, interest, aptitudes, adaptive function, and academic achievement.Interpret assessment results with regard to understanding brain-behavior relationships, using findings based on current research in neuropsychological assessment and available evidence-based approaches.Write comprehensive neuropsychological assessment reports including diagnostic interpretations and next step management/strategy plans.Participate in weekly case conferences and team meetings to discuss and evaluate the diagnoses and treatment/management of patients and formulate rehabilitation plans.Provide interpretative information to parents and/or primary caregivers (including teachers, therapists); may provide short-term counseling and psychoeducational consultation to help parents better understand their child's neuropsychological condition and to offer strategies to manage these concerns.Organizational AccountabilitiesOrganizational Commitment/IdentificationAnticipate and respond to customer needs;
