Job Description

We seek an innovative, creative software engineer who is ready for the challenges, responsibilities, and rewards that come with working in a high-energy, fast-paced environment. The candidate will be responsible for participating in the specification, design, development, test and support features for a satellite communications system from concept through completion. He/she will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

Analyze customer requirements and RFCs and come up with efficient software designs.

Participate in determining the future direction of the satellite system and related products in the areas of architecture, performance, infrastructure, testability and 100% uptime.

In an Agile framework, document, design, develop, test, and integrate software functionality for various components within a satellite system and related environments.

Take a collaborative design and validation approach in working with a multi-functional Scrum team of firmware, embedded, application, and test engineers.

Troubleshoot and provide resolutions for technical issues encountered in the deployment of SW solutions.

Other duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation:

BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Mathematics, or equivalent experience

Experience:

12+ years of industry experience in programming and software engineering.

Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast paced environment.

Must be able to analyze and solve technical problems.

Must be able to look under the hood to appreciate the low level functionality of the tools.

Flexible - able to quickly adapt to changing conditions and make decisions based on incomplete data.

Leadership and mentoring of junior members of the team.

Technical Requirements - Networking and Protocols:

Experience in C++ and/or Python and detailed knowledge of object-oriented design and programming.

Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

Expertise in networking protocol stacks and overlay technologies - TCP/IP protocol suite including Ethernet TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, IGMP, VLAN, IPSec, and Multicast.

Strong knowledge of IP Networking, L2/L3 switching/routing, and related technologies with implementation experience on a satellite network desirable.

Experience with deploying containerized IP networking applications at scale using Kubernetes over AWS, Azure and/or other cloud-based solution is desired.

OpenShift experience highly desirable.

Helm, Terraform knowledge desirable.

Proven experience with multithreading, optimization, memory management, interrupt handling, etc. in multi-core/multi-CPU and embedded environments.

Preferred experience with Virtualization networking technologies like OVS, NSX.

Experience with Software Configuration Management Tools (GIT, SVN).

Familiarity with Agile/SAFe development principles.

Strong technical leadership and mentoring skills.
