Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is a growing congregation in East San Jose and a member of LCMC: Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ. As a church, we seek to honor our Lutheran heritage and be attentive to the movement of the Holy Spirit as we care for, grow, and serve our community. The Children’s Ministry Director is a key member of our team at Gloria Dei and will have a strong collaborative nature and growing faith in Jesus. That growing faith will be the conduit in leading our children in ever-increasing love and worship of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.Responsibilities:Schedule volunteer staffing for Sunday morning childcare (ages 0 – 4)
Ensure background checks of volunteers are completed and up-to-dateEnsure nursery policy and procedures are up-to-date and implemented by volunteersHelp grow a Sunday morning Sunday school/ministry for children (ages 5 – 5th grade)With the pastor, select engaging and theologically appropriate curriculum for children with a wide age rangeRecruit volunteers to teach and support the ministryEnsure background checks of teachers and volunteers
Offer a weekly kids’ club/ministry for children from local elementary schools to build relationships and develop our children’s ministryDevelop relationship with our preschool director to determine avenues of support and integration of our preschoolRecruit new children into our church communityHelp plan, implement, and participate in community-wide fellowship opportunitiesBe a part of Gloria Dei’s outreach efforts to our local communityKnowledge, Skills, and Desired Characteristics:
As a representative of Christ at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, our Children’s Ministry Director will:Have a pastoral heart and a commitment to follow JesusBe a team player and team builderHave high-energy and an entrepreneurial spiritHave experience working with children and developing afterschool programs (preferred)Have experience volunteering or working with young children in a ministry setting (preferred)
