We are a fast-paced, energetic, and rapidly growing MGA that offers a great opportunity for a driven, experienced market-facing underwriter interested in helping continue to build our wholesale business. This role is a Hybrid position located in one of the following locations: Chicago, Dallas, or Morristown NJ.The AVP will play a key role working with the VP of Professional Liability and Head of US Financial Lines to help grow a profitable book of wholesale-only, middle market Miscellaneous Professional Liability (and further PL expansion) business in the US. They will take an active part in the development and implementation of an underwriting strategy that identifies profitable market opportunities and key wholesale broker relationships.WHAT YOU’LL DO:Underwrite a portfolio of primary and excess miscellaneous professional liability risks – with a primary focus on new business.Adhere to company guidelines and underwriting authority, evaluate new business accounts to determine risk acceptability, contractual terms, and pricing.Partner with VP to review and manage overall book performance and production results.Generate new business opportunities by leveraging wholesale broker contacts.Manage wholesale broker relationships in assigned territory.Represent Nexus at networking functions and other cyber industry-related events.Remain current on legal and regulatory changes and claim development in order to contribute to portfolio profitability.WHAT YOU’LL NEED:Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of professional liability underwriting experience – with a focus in at least one of these areas: MPL, real estate, accountants, insurance agents, media, or tech.Demonstrates significant contribution to underwriting profit.Independent decision maker – takes full responsibility for making decisions and consequences associated with decisions.Knowledge of the professional liability external market.Established network of wholesale broker relationships.Continually seeks opportunities for portfolio growth and potential broker opportunities.WHAT WE OFFER:Excellent growth and advancement opportunities.Competitive pay based on experience and results.DTO – Discretionary time offGenerous benefits package: health, dental, vision, etc.Employee Stock Purchase PlanWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
