Our team drives design innovation, delivering Echo, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, and more. We work on the Alexa app, designing on-the-go productivity and entertainment experiences. Together, we’re designing the future by building a strong design foundation to power our customer experiences.We are looking for a Full Stack Principal UX Designer to drive the definition and design for Alexa’s core multimodal experiences across devices, encompassing all new and existing Echo devices, Fire TV, and Alexa Auto experiences. You will additionally help drive the definition and design of tools that will help our developer partners build experiences for multimodal devices.In this role, you will collaborate with a team of world-class multi-disciplinary designers to invent and deliver UX frameworks and features that align and extend the Alexa experience across all Echo devices. You will help share the design system to external developer partners via Amazon developer portal. You will help define the end-to-end developer journey from discovery to engagement to managing content built for our Alexa, Fire, and Auto devices. You will work alongside research, product, and engineering partners across the organization to build customer-focused solutions at scale. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment. You must be able to lead projects forward in the face of complexity and ambiguity.Key job responsibilitiesCreate durable frameworks that designers and product owners can build on top ofDesign beautiful, useful, and desirable user interfaces and experiences in a team environmentCreate user-centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback, and usability findingsUse business requirements, user and market research to assist in developing scenarios, use cases, and high-level requirementsDesign the UI architecture, interface, and interaction flow of applications and experiencesDevelop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups, click-throughs, and prototypesDevelop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications and design patternsDevelop and maintain documentation of customer behaviors, motivations, and daily habitsWork with project managers to plan projects for effective delivery while maintaining high standards for designBe a passionate and effective advocate for design with non-design audiencesWrite effectively to communicate design rationales and benefits to Amazon customersUse analytics and data to drive design decision making to best serve our customersCreate and maintain processes for scaling, updating, managing, and evangelizing a design systemA day in the lifeYou will create a variety of deliverables, including wireframes, prototypes, user-flows, high-fidelity mockups and specs to communicate design thinking to senior leadership, engineering and product partners at every phase of product development. You will champion a design system and invent and simplify a set of mechanisms and tools that empower designers and engineers building the future of multimodal experiences. We earn the trust of others within DDG to foster an environment of inclusion and openness, allowing everyone to do their best every day.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS10+ years of design experienceHave an available online portfolioExperience designing and prototyping with tools such as Figma, ProtoPie, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision, or similarPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExpertise in the design thinking processExcellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skillsExperience with research and human-centered design with a portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience solving complex challenges with simple user-centered design solutionsVisual design expertise demonstrated through mockups and style guidesAdditional design skills in related fields, including motion design, animation, and prototypingExperience in designing interactions for voice-led devicesExperience in designing cross platform experiencesAbility to drive and close on design requirements independentlyProficiency in presenting design work to user experience teams, product and engineering teams, and executives for review and feedbackWorking knowledge of the foundations of engineering principles and how design translates into codeProficiency with platform tools used by designers and engineers to build and deploy immersive experiencesAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $147,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $244,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
