Senior Battery Applications Engineer
I am currently working with a clean technology leader who provides innovative, sustainable products and technologies for electric vehicle charging, energy storage, energy security, and outdoor media.
They are looking for a Senior Battery Applications Engineer to work alongside their Sales team and Design Engineering team to bridge the gap between customers’ specifications and the company’s technology and designs.
This position can be based in either San Diego, CA or Chicago, IL with up to 30% travel required.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Align engineering team and customer specifications to develop solutions that meet all requirements for product lines.
Understand world-class design principles, regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and broad market trends to ensure products are aligned with customer specifications.
Review customer inquiries and work with the Sales team to prioritize new customer engagements.
Engage directly with customers during NRE projects, new product design activities, launch sign-offs, and field quality evaluations.
Evaluate market trends and customer feedback to steer technical product strategy for energy storage products.
Key Skills and Experiences Required:
8 years of experience, with prior roles in customer-facing technical and energy storage applications.
Experience implementing multi-phase development projects.
Experience launching low to mid-volume products into production.
Experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), mechanical/thermal simulation (COMSOL preferred), GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and drawing review/release procedures.
Experience with energy storage system regulations.
Willing to travel up to 30% of the time between sites and to customers.
