Luma’s mission is to build multimodal AI to expand human imagination and capabilities.

We believe that multimodality is critical for intelligence. To go beyond language models and build more aware, capable and useful systems, the next step function change will come from vision. So, we are working on training and scaling up multimodal foundation models for systems that can see and understand, show and explain, and eventually interact with our world to effect change. We are looking for people with a strong research track-record related to Generative AI, such as LLMs, diffusion models, data and distributed systems. You will be part of Luma’s foundation models research team and work directly on mission critical projects. Candidates must have at least one research project related to Generative AI in which you played a major role. Relevant Research Experience

Training generative AI models in modalities such as video, image, text, audio, and 3D. Unlocking the power of foundational models for interesting applications, such as editing and controlled generations. On-policy or off-policy reinforcement learning for model tuning. Efficient training and/or inference techniques on large-scale distributed systems. Data curation and processing for pretraining and fine-tuning. Technical Requirements

Proficiency in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and/or Jax. This is an onsite role but open to remote for the right candidate. The pay range for this position in California is $200,000 - $300,000 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, candidate location, and experience. We also offer competitive equity packages in the form of stock options and a comprehensive benefits plan.
