We bring medical professionals, researchers, educators, policymakers, and the community together to drive our mission forward.Role Summary:The Director of Research Administration (DRA) is responsible for overseeing the growth and development of the infrastructure of the HIF research department. This position leads all aspects of the research department in collaboration with senior leadership, the board of directors, faculty, research coordinators, scientific advisory boards, and research committees. As the main contact for all research administration, the DRA manages HIF funded research, facilitates the training and development of the research staff who play a crucial role in providing support to principal investigators at every stage of the research process, from conception to dissemination.Ensure adherence to ethical and regulatory guidelines, demonstrating commitment to ethical research practices and the protection of research participants.Supervise research scientists, clinical research associates, clinical research coordinators, the Hearing Science Accelerator coordinator, and interns.Draft and disseminate RFPs for internal funds in collaboration with research committee chairs.Develop and manage the external review process for internal funding.Guide and advise PIs on research proposals for both internally funded studies and to secure external grants.Set and meet progressive research program deadlines and provide status updates to faculty.Develop and track research programs and study-specific budgets.Work closely with the Research Committee Chairs and Program Committee of the Board of Directors to identify research priorities and propose new directions for research program.Actively manage the Research Committee including reporting, meetings, presentations, and facilitating communication between researchers.Convene and facilitate monthly meetings with clinical fellows.Convene advisory boards (scientific or programmatic) for research centers.Work closely with management and development departments to identify and pursue funding opportunities.Maintain updated knowledge of all current and prospective studies, the scope of related research in the field, and suggest potential opportunities for co-investigation and external collaboration.Remain current on developments in policies and processes relating to research administration.Provide proactive outreach and communication to faculty and leadership on new policies, procedures and updated sponsor guidelines.Actively manage research department training and compliance.Additional Responsibilities:Collaborate with other departments to develop evaluation plans and process improvement activities.Represent HIF research department at professional meetings.Serve as point of contact to support LA Cardio access and research projects.QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:Master of Science or PhD in related field, plus minimum of 7-10 years of experience in research administration or coordination.Knowledge of medical environment and terminology.Knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and institutional research regulations as well as Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and HIPAA regulations.Proficient with MS Office applications, data management, and statistical software preferred.Demonstrate effective communication and writing skills.Demonstrate ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:An interest in and willingness to learn about an expanding body of hearing science research.An understanding of IRB approval processes.Experience overseeing successful scientific grant writing, budgeting, and submission for government and private funding.Experience with research statistics and study design.Ability to provide leadership, oversight and accountability for the research department.An ability to work collaboratively with faculty and scientists to ensure the future of HIF as a leading research institute.Ability to analyze and prepare concise, logical summaries and reports for meetings, conferences, and other engagements.A resourceful mindset and constructive approach to challenges and administrative obstacles.Must maintain a reliable and predictable work schedule to best accommodate efficiency of research needs including ability to work occasional early mornings and evenings.A strong commitment to advancing HIF’s mission and reputation as leaders in the field.Effectively engage with key stakeholders, including staff, Board of Directors, faculty physicians and audiologists, researchers, and community leaders.Ability to lead and manage teams to achieve strategic goals through effective communication, mentorship, and cultivation of a collaborative and high-performance culture.Possess the highest level of organization, analysis, perspective, planning, creativity, and energy.Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment.Ability to solve problems and remove barriers collectively and individually.Willingness to go above and beyond to contribute to the success of a dynamic team.Ability to establish rapport with diverse personalities in a fast-paced environment to achieve desired outcomes.Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and basic computer skills.A strong commitment to HIF’s values.WORKING AT HIF:Experience a fulfilling career at HIF, where we nurture personal and professional growth.
