The State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation (DOT), is in search of applicants for the position of Director of Internal Audit. This role will report to the Commissioner's Office of Legal and Regulatory Affairs in Newington, CT.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS- Full time, 40 hours per week- Monday through Friday- First shift- This position is eligible to apply for telework after successful completion of the working test period, and thereafter, in accordance with the Telework Policy.

THE ROLEThe Director of Internal Audit is responsible for managing the Division of Internal Audit and a team of audit professionals. The role includes developing and executing a risk-based annual audit plan, overseeing and assisting in the performance of financial and operational audits, investigations of whistleblower complaints and other special projects and reviews of the DOT, its Bureaus and related functions, accounts and operations. More specifically, developing and executing audit plans, performing test work as deemed appropriate and writing comprehensive reports detailing review results.

Qualifications & RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCENine (9) years of professional experience in a combination of financial and operational analysis in a large business or public service organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCETwo (2) years of the General Experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.

NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted to be at the level of a Supervising Accountant or a Supervising Accounts Examiner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWEDCollege training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor’s degree.A Master's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, public administration or in a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the General Experience.
