What will I be doing?

Develop and manage the regional and sub-regional demographic, economic and land use forecasting models and tools for transportation planning, economic development, flood mitigation and community and environmental planning.

Manage demographic, economic, residential and commercial property databases.

Manage project teams, prioritize and implement model development and application, and collaborate with other teams as well as external stakeholders.

Coach and support the professional development of junior staff, specifically in learning how to use advanced programming tools to produce and automate data analysis and other business intelligence.

Quality control to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data and providing innovative solutions to improve forecasting efforts is an integral part of this job.

Provide technical and analytical support and serve as a point of contact for internal and external requests for data.

Key Qualifications

Extensive experience in developing, maintaining, and planning complex regional and sub-regional land use models, including proficiency in tools like UrbanSim.

Strong experience in reading and writing Python scripts for data processing and management is crucial for success in this role.

In-depth knowledge of statistical modeling techniques.

Proven leadership in research and analytical strategy development, managing complex data projects, and preparing detailed technical reports.

Strong leadership across disciplines like urban planning, environmental studies, and transportation, adept at integrating diverse insights into modeling.

Outstanding communication skills, adept in engaging with various stakeholders, and recognized as a subject matter expert.

Exceptional at articulating complex concepts and insights to diverse audiences, ensuring clarity and understanding.

Proven ability in adapting to new technologies and methodologies, with a focus on continual improvement.

Forward-thinking and strategic in addressing analytical challenges at the intersection of regional planning and data analysis.

Strong project management skills, maintaining attention to detail in dynamic, fast-paced environments, and handling multiple initiatives.

Experience in public sector processes, particularly with local/state/federal government data and GIS.

Do you have…

Bachelor's degree in urban planning, transportation, economics, geography, environmental studies, data science, statistics, or a related field of study.

5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job-related duties.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s/PhD degree in urban planning, economics, geography, environmental studies, data science, statistics, or a related field of study.

8 years of experience in population, employment, and land use modeling.

Strong experience using UrbanSim for regional growth forecasting.

Experience in SAS/R programming for data analysis.

Strong skills in spatial data technologies and GIS.
