Minimum Qualifications

4 year Bachelor’s degree and at least 1-2 years experience in college strength and conditioning

CSCS and/or CSCCA Certification Required

Preferred Qualifications

At least 2 years experience in college strength and conditioning

CSCS and/or CSCCA Certification Required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The athletic program at Appalachian State University operates on the premise that intercollegiate athletics is an integral part of the institution’s overall program of education. Priority is given to high standards of both academic and athletic quality — the goal being the complete development of the student-athlete.

This position provides strength training to student-athletes. Duties & Responsibilities include:

Works under the supervision of the Assistant Athletics Director of Strength and Conditioning/Olympic Sports.

Direct responsibilities for year round programs for assigned teams.

Supervises athletics Weight Room, inventory, and maintenance.

Recommend purchases regarding strength and conditioning equipment.

Work in conjunction with athletic trainers regarding injuries, rehabilitation, and nutrition.

Coordinate with coaches regarding schedules and needs.

Commitment to and compliance with the University’s and Department of Athletics policies and procedures as well as the Sun Belt and NCAA constitutions, bylaws, legislation and regulations.

Other duties as assigned by Assistant Athletics Director of Strength and Conditioning/Olympic Sports.

Physical Demands of Position : Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
