$40/hr for 6.5 standard (required) + 1.5 flex (use as needed) hours per weekAbout SEO ScholarsSEO Scholars is a non-profit focused on improving educational outcomes for students that come from underserved and historically underrepresented backgrounds. Our free eight-year academic program gets low-income public high school students to and through college–with a 100% college admissions rate and 90% college graduation rate.Position Overview & ResponsibilitiesAssociate Instructors

will join SEO’s community of passionate educators to implement a rigorous college prep curriculum for motivated and driven high school students. Using our original curriculum and a student-centered approach to teaching and learning, Associate Instructors play an integral part in supporting our Scholars’ journeys to a competitive college and beyond. Associate Instructors promote depth of understanding and skill acquisition by serving as a coach and facilitator of learning.

Associate Instructors co-teach Math for 10th or 11th grade Scholars.Associate Instructors are the first to cover classes when instructors are out or they co-teach alongside Instructors to facilitate classroom instruction, teach mini lessons, organize small group and one-on-one instruction, and provide additional Scholar support. Associate Instructors do not have grading responsibilities.The CoursesInstructors will be placed in either 10th or 11th Grade and will teach a double block class of Math for the following courses offered in the Fall:11th Grade– “ SAT Math”Key Responsibilities:Instruction & Facilitation

– Co-teach four periods of Math. When asked to cover for another instructor, lead the class on your own. Follow provided lesson plans and meet lesson objectives, abiding by SEO’s articulated criteria for rigorous instruction and student engagement.Navigate Instructional Technologies

– Learn and efficiently utilize our instructional technologies such as Brightspace (Learning Management System), Desmos, and G Suite applications, in a Blended Learning environment.Content Preparation

– Read, internalize, and practice all lesson plans and materials provided by SEO prior to teaching.Academic Support

– Identify scholars in need of targeted academic support to review skills learned in class, makeup missed work or lessons, or develop new skills.Classroom Culture

– Project an energetic, engaging, and approachable persona to promote students’ connection to the content.Collaboration with SEO Staff and Other Instructors

– Plan and work alongside fellow instructors to build optimal experiences for Scholar learning.Responsiveness to Coaching and Feedback

– Meet with your assigned instructional coach at least twice during the semester to receive and implement feedback.Qualifications:Required:Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in content related fieldExperience working with high school-aged studentsComfortable with navigating technological learning systemsExpertise and depth of knowledge in Advanced high school-level Mathematics (Algebra & Trigonometry)Preferred:Secondary Education Degree and CertificationUnderstanding and practice of student-centered pedagogyKnowledge and experience with Universal Design for Learning (UDL)The Hiring Process:Phase 1: Application ReviewPhase 2: Phone Screening with Talent AcquisitionsPhase 3: 45-minute Interview & Demo Lesson on Zoom with SEO Scholars team.Phase 4: Update on Application and/or offer letter sent.EEOC @ SEOAt SEO we are committed to cultivating a team that embodies the backgrounds and experiences of the constituencies we serve.
