About the Position
The Associate Director of Annual Giving is instrumental in ensuring the Annual Giving team develops and implements programs, appeals, challenges, and other fundraising efforts that raise over $5 million annually for Haverford. The Annual Giving team works to grow Haverford’s donor base across all constituencies, especially from underrepresented constituent segments such as alumni of color, women, and LGBTQIA+.
Primary Responsibilities
Manage an assigned prospective donor portfolio to ensure proper qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of prospects at the $100-$10,000 range.
Design and implement an Affinity Fundraising program with campus partners:
Develop strategies to grow the affinity giving program to include increased emphasis on special project fundraising, staff and faculty fundraising, and other opportunities across the College, engaging prospective and current donors to fund these impactful programs and opportunities.
Work closely with colleagues to design, implement, and educate others on robust campaigns and stewardship programs.
Develop strategies for identifying and optimizing the College’s various affinity groups for making annual gifts to the College.
Craft communications and timelines for annual appeals related to affinity group giving.
Analyze advancement data to devise strategies for segmentation and outreach.
Lead the College’s Annual Giving Days in concert with the digital fundraising campaigns:
Manage the execution of three (3) annual giving days at Haverford, including crafting communications and appeals, developing timelines, and partnering with colleagues at the College to identify specific projects for funding as needed.
Partner with colleagues across IA to ensure content is current, aligned, and inspired and materials, including videos, volunteer resources, print, and digital, are prepared and disseminated.
Oversee the dissemination of information about various programs and events through cultivated media channels and other digital mediums.
Analyze advancement data to devise strategies for segmentation and outreach.
Design an innovative social media strategy to bolster engagement and fundraising for all alumni, working closely with the Assistant Director of Annual Giving to ensure they have the tools and resources to engage young alumni.
Work closely with GiveCampus and the Advancement Operations team to ensure data integrity is maintained throughout all platforms.
Support the Reunion and Class Giving Program ensuring achievement of annual goals:
Lead, in collaboration with IA colleagues, the recruitment, training, and management of fundraising volunteers to make direct solicitations to classmates to meet class goals for 3-4 reunion classes.
Partner with colleagues in determining how best to steward reunion challengers, donors, and volunteers in conjunction with Alumni Weekend.
Ensure Giving Advocates (volunteers) are aware of responsibilities, priorities, and goals, developing tools and resources they can use to ensure success.
Other duties as assigned in accordance with the overall goals of the Annual Giving team; programs, strategies, and prospects are allocated to Annual Giving team members based on need and complexity.
Line of Report:
The Associate Director for Annual Giving reports to the Director of Annual Giving and has no direct reports.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
4 years of overall work experience.
Professional Competencies
Demonstrated thoughtful and collaborative project management skills, including managing multiple projects at once.
Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities including using diplomacy and discretion while maintaining confidentiality.
Effective communication skills.
Knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and mail merge, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (documents, forms, sheets).
Experience managing volunteers and/or leading programs.
Experience in advancement/development/fundraising or direct solicitation.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in marketing, outreach and/or direct solicitation strategies.
Experience working in a college or university setting.
Technological proficiency in MailChimp (or similar email system), BaseCamp (or other project management system), and Raiser’s Edge.
