MidAmerica National Bank, a locally owned financial institution in central Illinois, has an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to join our Accounting Department as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in Fulton County. Established in 1933, MidAmerica National Bank provides financial services to local communities through our branches located in Fulton, McDonough, and Marshall counties. We are currently accepting applications/resumes in Fulton County for a CFO. This position primarily serves as the financial and senior operations officer of the bank responsible for directing financial functions of the organization in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board along with practices appropriate for the banking industry.
The CFO is directly responsible for all financial activities of the holding company and the bank. This position oversees all accounting and financial reporting, budgeting, regulatory reporting, financial planning, policies, and procedures including accounts, operations, financial systems, treasury/investment activities, funds management, budgeting process/tracking and financial audit. The CFO oversees the accounting staff and operations supervisor responsible for deposit operations, bookkeeping, loan operations and customer service.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Oversees investment portfolio management and reporting consistent with the bank’s investment strategy. Supervises all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, receivables, fixed assets, and all reporting to regulatory agencies. Coordinates with senior management and branch/department/division managers in the preparation of the annual budget/forecasts and provides budget updates bank-wide. Responsible for the capital contingency planning process for the bank. Monitors and controls the non-interest costs of the bank and ensures compliance through established guidelines. Prepares, interprets, and presents financial reports to directors, shareholders, senior management, and regulatory agencies. Responsible for tax planning, including initiation and monitoring efforts to minimize the bank’s tax liability.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting/business management or related field. CPA certification or equivalent experience preferred. 5+ years’ experience in managing an investment portfolio, financial reporting, accounting, general ledger, financial systems forecasting/budgeting and preparation of all financial reports. Executive-level experience preferred with emphasis in the areas of financial planning, reporting, asset/liability, and securities portfolio management. Excellent analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills; strong communication skills, both oral and written, and strong management/interpersonal skills. Flexible and results-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
