Bixby is an intelligent personal assistant which is only available as a built-in application on Samsung flagship devices and wearables. This application uses Natural Language Understanding to perform tasks on these devices using voice/text, including but not limited to making phone calls, sending text messages, setting up meetings, opening apps, setting alarms and timers, getting directions, answering general questions, providing information about restaurants and other businesses, etc.Position Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Applied ML Scientist with expertise in Generative AI to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing innovative and practical AI applications for Samsung devices and services. Bixby Lab works on many high impact projects that serve various Samsung lines of business. We are at the forefront of using sophisticated machine learning techniques and mathematical models to tackle impactful business problems. Join us and you will have the opportunity to do groundbreaking applied machine learning work that will craft the industry.Position Responsibilities:Generative AI model finetuning based on specific tasksPrompt engineering and finetuning based on use casesUnderstanding the application use cases and implementing the solution using LLMCollaborate seamlessly with diverse, cross-functional teams to accurately identify and prioritize requirements, ensuring that the language model meets the needs and expectations of various stakeholdersStay updated on and contribute to the latest advancements in AI research, applying new findings to ongoing projectsCreate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation that captures the intricate details of the language model, facilitating seamless understanding, efficient troubleshooting, and future developmentImplement on-device AI solutions for Samsung products and servicesManage the project lifecycle from research and development to deployment and optimizationRequired Skills:Masters or PhD in AI or computer science or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience5+ years of industry experience with strong ML fundamentalsHands-on experience with building Deep Learning applicationsProficiency in using ML toolkits, e.g., PyTorchStrong experience in on-device AI implementationStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong knowledge of TensorFlow framework and architectureStrong software engineering skills in Python to create scalable and robust infrastructure for deep learning data, modeling, and evaluation systemsProven ability to train and debug deep learning systems: defining metrics and datasets, performing error analysis and training models in a modern ML frameworkFamiliarity with researching current ML literature and math including optimization methods and modeling techniquesStrong experience in the transition of a prototype into a final productExcellent written and verbal communication skills, be comfortable presenting research to large audiences, and have the ability to work hands-on in multi-functional teamsBase Pay Range:$172,700 — $237,650 USDAdditional Information:Essential Job Functions:This position will be performed in an office setting.
