Legal Counsel II

will provide legal support for RWE Clean Energy’s renewable energy business teams in connection with our businesses in the development, construction and operation of wind, solar & battery storage renewable energy projects. The Legal Counsel II will support complex construction projects related to procurement.Responsibilities:Work will be focused on the provision of legal advice in connection with renewable energy project procurement, construction, and operations across technologies (wind, solar, battery storage, hydrogen)Draft and negotiate procurement and construction contracts, such as turbine supply agreements, balance of plant agreements, EPC(I) & turnkey contracts, purchase agreements for components, service agreements, logistic and transportation contracts, associated exhibits, and ancillary documentsNegotiate terms and conditions for the purchase of other non-project-based goods and services of all typesProvide legal support on HSE, R&D, IP, IT and insurance mattersAnticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the organization and develop strategies to avoid litigation and reduce potential areas of riskCollaborate with a variety of business stakeholders, including Procurement, Pre-Construction, Project Execution, Tax, Credit, Accounting, and InsuranceProvide project-specific legal support to Project Execution teams and project managersProvide project-specific legal support to Project Operations team and O&M personnelManage external legal counsel retained for specialized practice areas, i.e., litigation, tax, etc.Maintain and update contract templates and other commonly requested legal formsQualifications:J.D. from an accredited university is requiredMinimum of 8 years of experience is strongly preferredStrong experience working on complex construction projects and/or related procurement in a law firm or a companyLicensed, or the ability to become licensed, to practice law in Illinois or New YorkLegal knowledge and experience in construction work and renewable energy highly preferredAbility to demonstrate practical, rather than theoretical focus to legal issues with a view to finding viable business solutions for those legal issuesOutstanding commercial, technical, and strategic understandingStrong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationshipsDemonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables spaceExcellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and TeamsStrong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlinesStrong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverablesAbility to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a teamMotivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilitiesProven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgroundsResponds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachableDetail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business conceptsPay range:

The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $135,000 - $203,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.Benefits offered:
