About the Role:
Wing is looking for a
Hardware Reliability Engineer
to join our
Hardware Reliability
team based in
Palo Alto, CA . The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals, experience with failure modes of hardware in harsh environments, test design and documentation skills, the passion to derive simple solutions from complex data, and the ability to deliver results as part of a dynamic, cross-functional team. As Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in enabling new technologies in the early stages of development. You will work closely with the product management and design engineering teams to define standards, specify tests, execute tests, and perform failure analysis. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will be key to ensuring adoption of your technical recommendations. What You’ll Do: Define and execute design verification test plans for electronic and mechatronic flight hardware. Collaborate with development teams to improve hardware reliability based on experience, standards and best practices, test data, and/or analysis. Analyze lab test data and field data to calculate failure rates and recommend design improvements. Write or adapt computer scripts to perform tests and analyze data. Perform root cause analysis and failure analysis. What You’ll Need: B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline. 3+ years of experience in hardware reliability, design, or failure analysis. Familiarity with consumer, automotive, and/or aerospace reliability test standards and methods. Experience working with external testing labs to define and complete testing. Experience partnering with engineering and manufacturing teams to identify issues, troubleshoot, and solve problems. Hands-on experience assembling, disassembling, inspecting, and modifying hardware. Working knowledge of a programming language (preferably Python) with the ability to write and modify scripts. Ability to create and update reliability models. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain test plans, results, and recommendations to a wide range of stakeholders. Organizational skills to plan and ensure follow through on complex test plans. Bonus: MS/PhD degree in an engineering discipline. Familiarity with SQL and working with large data sets. Experience with statistics and relevant reliability data analysis packages (e.g. Weibull++, JMP, R, MATLAB). Proven experience in debug, troubleshooting, and failure analysis investigation. Applied knowledge in avionics, motors, actuators, etc. The US base salary range for this full-time position is the salary range below + bonus + equity + benefits.
