Salary Range:

$52.7600 - $81.7600/hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

As part of the nursing team at Hoag Memorial Hospital's Nursing Staffing Office (Float Pool), you will deliver direct inpatient care as per the California Nurse Practice Act, and in support of the mission of the Patient Care Services Division. Being a Hoag Clinical Nurse I means serving our community by using research and evidence-based outcomes, and collaborating with members of your team to offer the highest level of care to those who depend on us.

Inside Hoag’s Float Pool

Our Staffing Office provides three levels of nursing support to the hospital based on expertise and patient acuity: Float I, II, and III. As a Float I nurse your primary responsibility will be to provide direct patient care to various medical/surgical units, including: Oncology, Pulmonary, Gynecology/Urology, Surgical, and Telemetry. The patient population served is the adult and geriatric patient with medical, surgical, oncological, cardiac, and/or neurological diagnoses. You will also have an opportunity to float to both Hoag Hospital Newport Beach and Hoag Hospital Irvine, and receive an additional 5% to your base pay rate.

Other duties may include:

Assessing and documenting a complete physical assessment, nursing interventions, teaching and discharge needs for patients assigned to each shift, utilizing documentation guidelines, Standards of Care and Pathway goals.

Communicating changes in the patient's condition to the Charge Nurse/Supervisor and the physician directing care, as well as pertinent information at shift report using the patient Plan of Care (POC).

Administering medications and intravenous therapy with the ability to assess the appropriate indication dosing and effects of the medication administered.

Assessing the educational ability/level for the patient, incorporating available educational material into patient/significant other instruction and documenting understanding in the patient record.

Appropriately assessing, intervening and caring for the adult/geriatric patient, family and significant other requiring emotional support, coping support and care for significant life changes and end of life issues, while coordinating support services with Social Services, Pastoral Care, and Case Management.

Required

BLS and ACLS certifications.

Successful completion of an EKG course or equivalent.

A minimum of two to three (2 to 3) years of clinical nurse experience in a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). If you haven't obtained a BSN upon hire, you will be asked to begin a BSN program within one year of the hire date and obtain your BSN within two years of starting the program.

Preferred

BSN.

Certification in a nursing specialty.

Additional skills and knowledge of various equipment and software may be required.
