In order to support our expansion and growing clientele, we are actively seeking a Criminal Solicitor to join our innovative and motivated team. This position can be based either in our Mayfair or Hove offices. It presents an ideal opportunity for a Newly Qualified (NQ) Solicitor or a Trainee Solicitor on the verge of qualification who is eager to kickstart their career in the field of Criminal law. Equally, this opportunity is well-suited for a solicitor with 1-3 years of experience who is eager to enhance their skill set and contribute to the growth of a department.Our Criminal Solicitor will take an active role in amplifying our firm’s business development efforts through blog contributions and networking engagements. The responsibilities for this role encompass managing your own caseload, with support from our broader experienced team. This role primarily involves handling criminal cases in both the crown and magistrates’ courts. It demands proactive efforts to expand the firm’s client base and offers the opportunity to work alongside the wider team to contribute to matters related to family, civil litigation, employment, and property litigation.Efficient file management is of utmost importance, including meeting deadlines, adhering to established precedents, and uploading letters and documents onto the case management system; therefore, proficiency in computer skills is a prerequisite for this role. This role operates within a dynamic, fast-paced environment, under the guidance of our directors.A bit about you.
You will have experience as a fee earner and in criminal court proceedings. You will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the Criminal Procedure Rules and preferably, have some experience in criminal defence or prosecution. It is admirable if you are currently pursuing courses for Higher Rights of Audience (HRA) or working towards a Higher Rights Advocacy Qualification (HRAQ). Similarly, possessing or actively working towards a Police Station Qualification (PSQ) or Magistrates Court Qualification (MCQ) would be highly advantageous.You will possess exceptional client-handling skills, robust verbal and written communication abilities, and a commitment to establishing strong client relationships. You will exhibit meticulous attention to detail, along with exceptional organisational skills. Proficiency in using case management software, such as LEAP, is preferred.You’re not just confident but also possess the rare blend of empathy and trustworthiness, essential for establishing strong connections with our clients.
