Job Description
Our client is looking for a Sales Engineer to act as a key technical resource supporting our sales team as well as our partner organization. The sales engineer will be a member of the Solution Services team, the charter of which is to ensure the success of our partners and enterprise customers in the planning, design, and implementation of our client’s software adoption, integration, and related infrastructure.
The primary focus of the Sales Engineer will be to support the sales organization throughout the sales process, including participating in sales calls, delivering technical presentations, and doing product demos to prospective customers, and where needed setting up practice environments for prototypes and proofs-of-concept.
Financial services or payment processing (ala Square, PayPal, Apple Pay, Paycom) SaaS experience is highly desired.
Responsibilities
This is a technical role and requires a solid and diverse background in Internet development and architecture.
Act as the primary technical resource for the Sales organization. Support sales and partner efforts by demonstration, training, and enablement.
Engage with potential customers to understand their business needs and technical requirements, particularly related to the security and reliability of our client’s platform and technical integration with the customers’ internal systems.
Deliver responses to RFPs and technical questionnaires required by prospects. Provide input and guidance to the sales team on the technical aspects of proposal development, including RFPs and security questionnaires.
Assist in the creation of custom demonstrations and presentations that highlight the value of our solutions in meeting customer needs.
Provide prospects with background on implementation and integration options, including partner-led alternatives. Create test our client’s accounts for the purpose of demonstration, prototypes, and proof of concept.
Support sales efforts by contributing to RFPs and other technical questionnaires. Develop technical enablement materials for prospects and partners.
Demonstrate technical overviews of our client’s platform and in-depth technical aspects of the integration between our client and customer ERP systems.
Address technical questions and challenges, providing clear and convincing explanations and solutions during the sales process.
Participate in the development of a partner certification program.
Work with our client’s Product team to provide feedback on design and functionality requirements as learned from prospects. Collaborate with the product team to ensure our solution is continuously aligned with market needs and customer feedback.
Offer post-sale support to ensure successful implementation and customer satisfaction, acting as a liaison between the client and our technical teams.
Develop and maintain technical enablement materials for prospects and partners.
Qualifications
Significant experience in sales-oriented role in an enterprise software environment, experience in a technical sales or pre-sales engineering role.
Experience working on enterprise integrations. Experience with enterprise ERPs (PeopleSoft, Banner, SAP) preferred. Hands-on experience with enterprise ERPs (eg. Workday, Banner, SAP).
Previous sales/system engineer experience required -- empathetic, with good listening/solution skills. Strong communications skills with spoken and written English.
Computer Science / Software Engineering education preferred. Degree NOT required; good interpersonal skills are however a MUST.
Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Willingness to travel to client and prospects as required.
