SUMMARYThe Georgia State & Campaigns Director (GSCD) will serve as the strategic driving force in the state to support the mission of Planned Parenthood Southeast. The GSCD’s duties include protecting access to reproductive health care through assisting with development and implementation of legislative, power building, and electoral campaigns. The GSCD will create and implement field programs that will engage supporters and volunteers through meaningful training and engagement opportunities, including campaigns to build power to leverage on behalf of the communities we serve by increasing our supporter base and capacity. In addition, the GSCD works with the VPEA and other staff and volunteers to further the educational, political, and electoral goals of Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates including electing legislators who support access to a full range of reproductive health care. The GSCD will directly manage and support Public Policy and Organizing Manager (PPOM) and support the Georgia Field Organizers. At least 60% of the GCD’s time will be allocated to 501(c)3 campaign work.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESGrassroots Organizing

Create and implement statewide organizing plan for recruiting and maintaining supporters, including selected target communities (Black and Latine communities, youth, health center communities).Develop organizing plan and goals in conjunction with VPEA and PPOM for recruiting and maintaining activists and volunteers.Oversee Organizing Plan and support the work of the Organizers, adjusting outreach tactics by season and impact.Support PPOM in identifying tabling, recruiting, and other outreach opportunities for organizers.Collaborate with Organizers to mobilize activists for organizing activities including door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, days of action, legislative actions, letter writing campaigns, house parties, etc.Represent PPSE and PPSEA in the Community

Work in conjunction with other partner organizations throughout the state to increase collaboration, cross-movement progress, and to increase political power.Represent PPSE and PPSEA in coalitions and table meetings, sharing information gathered with Communications Team and VPEA.Cultivate relationships with new and existing community groups.Identify and cultivate key contacts in targeted communities.Legislative Support

In conjunction with allied partners, follow state house happenings in order to create action alerts and messaging with the PPSE Communications Team, in order to build and engage supporter base for upcoming electoral actions.Work with Organizers to engage community leaders and volunteers on the happenings of the Legislature.Help prepare witnesses and legislators for committee hearings, as needed.Be available to testify for legislative committee hearings where appropriate.Alongside PPOM, monitor elected officials and candidate positions and voting records.Work with allied partners to create and implement long and short term plans to combat attacks against reproductive rights, and expand and protect.Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates (PPSEA) Duties

Work with firewall appropriate supervisor (CEO/VPEA) to identify electoral targets for GOTV and voter education and mobilization.Recruit, hire, train, and manage Organizers (full time and seasonal) where needed.Write and execute a data-driven field plan (for persuasion, absentee, and GOTV for general), managing overall field operations and tracking progress to goals.Develop and implement plans alongside VPEA and PPOM for voter registration, GOTV, voter education and mobilization, including creating voter guides and persuasive mailings, organizing phone banks, canvassing, etc.Oversee PPVotes work in partnership with Planned Parenthood Action Fund to direct paid canvass, direct mail, and digital work in targeted districts and throughout the state.Work strategically alongside electoral partners to ensure that PPVotes’ electoral plan is in alignment with overall state IE work.Provide comms support on reproductive issues and collaboration opportunities to coalition partners on the legislative table.Provide staff support to Action Fund board where firewall appropriate.Support organizers and PPOM in recruiting volunteers for PPSEA activities and campaigns of endorsed candidates.Work with Development Department on Action Fund fundraisers.With VPEA, oversee and manage c4 budget and spend.External Communication

With the PPSE Communications Team, draft supporter communications, including information on volunteer opportunities and advocacy alerts on current legislative and policy issues as needed.With the PPSE Communications Team, draft testimony for appropriate witnesses during legislative session.Represent PPSE/PPSEA at press conferences and supporter facing events as needed.Develop content for social media in conjunction with the Communications Team.Serve as media contact available for press outreach, as needed.Data Management

Maintain up-to-date supporter records in all applicable databases.Ensure timely data entry from staff and interns.Train staff and volunteers in database use.Represent organization in data workgroups.Administrative Duties

Recruit, hire, train, and manage Organizers.Assist VPEA in drafting grant reports, board reports, and strategic plan updates.Track time and expenses as required for grant reporting and legal purposes.Alongside PPOM and organizers, recruit and manage interns, including creating intern work plans if applicable and as needed.Coordinate training for Public Policy staff, volunteers, and interns with HR and Outreach staff.Create and manage systems that allow for staff efficiency and autonomy.Completes other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSEducation

Bachelor level degree or higher, or 3-4 years of relevant field, advocacy, or political experience.Experience

4 cycles experience preferred in political campaigns and community organizing.1-2 years of legislative experience preferred.Experience responding to media/press inquiries and interviews preferred.Experience working with diverse coalitions.Familiarity with and commitment to the Planned Parenthood mission.Skills

Strong computer skills, including Windows, Google suite, and database management.Experience with VAN/Voter Builder and Every Action required.Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, including writing skills.Ability to earn the confidence of a wide range of internal and external constituents.Ability to gracefully manage multiple projects and to meet multiple deadlines.Enthusiasm for the work and a willingness to learn.Physical Demands (accommodations will be provided for disabilities)

Long hours at the computer are necessary at times.Capacity to participate in organizing activities such as tabling and canvassing.Car and driver’s license required for in-state travel.Flexibility in work hours as evenings and weekend hours are necessary.Languages Spoken
