Head of School

Richmond Montessori School, Richmond, VA’s only dual-accredited independent Montessori school and the oldest co-educational school in the region, is seeking an outstanding educational leader to serve as its Head of School for July 1, 2025.Home to 310 students from 18 months through eighth grade, RMS children learn how to learn through inquiry, research, and academic mastery. RMS is an authentic Montessori environment where diverse concepts are presented across the curriculum and in different ways as the children progress through the grades. At Richmond Montessori School, students’ sense of integrity, independence, creativity, social justice, and problem solving and collaboration skills are just as important as their competencies and academic achievements.The next head will have the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated faculty and staff and a committed board of trustees to advance a school community that is deeply rooted in Montessori pedagogy and described by a parent as a place where “each child is celebrated for who they are and met where they are.”Minimum Requirements

Ideal applicants should have experience as a successful head of school or senior-level independent school administrator, hold a degree in education or a related field, and have a deep understanding of and abiding commitment to the Montessori philosophy. Leadership and teaching experience in a Montessori school is strongly preferred.
