However, the list resulting from this recruitment may be used to fill Nurse Manager (Medical Surgical Care) positions for the next six months.Under general supervision, the Nurse Manager (Medical Surgical Care) supervises the delivery and evaluation of nursing care and the care environment.The Nurse Manager (Medical Surgical Care) performs the following essential job functions:Manages nursing care in an assigned area, which may either be in a clinical, administrative or community setting;Assesses patient care needs;Supervises, evaluates, mentors, and coaches assigned nursing/non-clinical staff;Works with Human Resources on hiring, onboarding new staff;Develops programs to support staff education and quality improvement in assigned area;Maintains accurate records and prepares written reports;Serves on committees as assigned or as needed;Manages units budget in a fiscally responsible manner; ANDPromotes effective verbal and written communication.The 2322 Nurse Manager (Medical Surgical Care) performs other related duties as required.How to qualify

Minimum QualificationsLICENSE

: Possession of a valid, including temporary or interim, California Registered Nurse License issued by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN);

ANDEDUCATION

: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and/or university in Nursing, Nursing Administration, or a closely related field;

ANDEXPERIENCE

: Two (2) years (equivalent to 4,000 hours) of experience as a Registered Nurse in a general acute care hospital in a medical or surgical acute care unit, within the last five (5) years.SUBSTITUTION : Two (2) years of additional experience as an Assistant Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse in a general acute care hospital may be substituted for the educational requirement.Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: The stated desirable qualifications may be considered at the end of the selection process when candidates are referred for hiring.Inpatient Medical-Surgical Units at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG)RN or Nurse Manager experience at a Level 1 Trauma Center with trauma, stroke, and traumatic brain injury programsExperience working in a safety net hospitalSelection Procedures :After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process.How to apply:Applications for City and County of San Francisco jobs are only accepted through an online process.
