Job Description - Research Faculty (210002RQ) Research Faculty

- (210002RQ) Description Research Faculty (Assistant or Associate) is a full-time tenure track position with a laboratory-based focus on the cancer biology of pediatric solid tumors. The successful candidate will have a M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree in cancer biology or immunology, a strong peer-reviewed publication record, and have demonstrated highly competitive research funded grant activities. Research Faculty will be responsible for advancing the cancer biology research program through the study of the tumor microenvironment, using the emerging areas of genome editing, precision medicine, epigenetics, biomarkers, next generation high throughput DNA/RNA sequencing, cell therapy, and immunotherapy as it relates to pediatric solid cancers. The faculty member will have the responsibility for the day-to-day laboratory research projects, independently write grants and papers, mentor and supervise laboratory staff and students, as well as develop educational programs and regularly participate in committee meetings. Responsibilities include generating and testing hypotheses related to a field of research by initiating, carrying out, and managing research projects/program supported by external, peer-reviewed sources. Also responsible for other job-specific academic activities including but not limited to: securing funding from external sources, supervising laboratory staff and students, supervising graduate and post-doctoral research staff, developing educational programs, teaching assignments, and publishing in recognized, peer-reviewed journals. Qualifications Minimum Education Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) (or equivalent doctoral degree) in an accredited college or university (Required) Or Medical Doctor (M.D.) (or equivalent doctoral degree) in an accredited college or university (Required) Minimum Work Experience 2 years Progressive specialized experience in a field of research. Demonstrated potential to make unique contributions in their research field. (Required) Functional Accountabilities Commitment to Research Conduct research of significant scientific value in the basic and/or translational science area(s) relevant to his/her practice specialty. Participate in the review of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals. Publish in peer-reviewed, scientific, quality, and management journals. Submit applications for grants or contracts for funding of research projects. Participate in research committees and workshop special interest groups. Conduct of Research Consistently demonstrate adherence to the standards for the responsible conduct of research. Plan, conduct, and manage research projects within the federal and institutional regulations and policies. Responsible for the appropriate use of research funds. Supervise staff and students. Teaching Participate in educational programs and teaching assignments. Primary Location
