Cohen Veterans Bioscience (CVB) is seeking a Director of Data Science to lead our initiatives in translational research and clinical program development, with a special focus on neuropsychiatric disorders such as PTSD, TBI, and related conditions. This role focuses on enhancing our systems modeling capabilities, integrating multi-omics, neuroimaging, and clinical data specifically for biomarker and drug target discovery in these disorders. The Director will employ a diverse array of advanced methodologies including generative AI, causal modeling, probabilistic graphical models, and other emerging techniques. The goal is to drive breakthroughs in machine learning and AI for target identification, biomarker discovery, and the advancement of diagnostics and drug therapies in brain health. Reporting to the Chief Data and AI Officer, this role is pivotal for defining and executing our data science vision and strategy, greatly influencing CVB’s mission in improving care for individuals with neuropsychiatric disorders. Primary Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Chief Data and AI Officer to define and implement CVB’s data science strategy, emphasizing systems modeling, multi-omics, and neuroimaging. Support the management of a talented team of data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and professional growth. Lead projects in computational and predictive modeling using machine learning, generative AI, causal modeling, and other relevant techniques. Develop strategies for data collection, integration, and analysis, creating models that deliver actionable insights for neuropsychiatric research. Innovate research strategies using diverse data sources to uncover biomarkers and drug targets in neuropsychiatric conditions. Facilitate interdepartmental collaboration and provide expert consultation to align team efforts with CVB’s objectives. Establish and nurture partnerships with academia, nonprofits, and industry to enhance CVB’s data science capabilities in neuropsychiatric research. Qualifications:

PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related discipline, with a focus on neuroimaging, systems biology, or computational neuroscience and experience in neuropsychiatric disorders. Over 8 years of experience in machine learning, predictive modeling, statistics, computer science, bioinformatics, or computational biology, specializing in neuropsychiatric disorders. Proficient in statistical methods, machine learning, generative AI, causal modeling, probabilistic graphical models, and other advanced data science techniques, especially those focused on the use of multi-modal data. Familiarity with neuroscience and experience in model validation, especially in neuropsychiatric contexts. Proven leadership and team management skills, with emphasis on fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Track record in researching and applying for potential grant or other funding opportunities is preferred. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic research environment. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with experience in presenting complex data to varied audiences. Proficiency in R/Python and related frameworks. Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time. Position Location:
