Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Data Governance and Engineering to lead our data management initiatives and engineering efforts. This pivotal role will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both data governance principles and engineering practices, with the ability to drive innovation, streamline processes, and maximize the value derived from data assets. Job Duties
Develop and implement data governance strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Establish data governance frameworks, including data standards, metadata management, data lineage, and data stewardship programs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data ownership, access controls, and data lifecycle management processes. Lead efforts to monitor and enforce data governance policies, addressing issues related to data quality, consistency, and privacy. Provide strategic direction and oversight for the design, development, and maintenance of data engineering solutions and infrastructure. Manage a team of data engineers, architects, and analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Architect scalable and efficient data pipelines, data warehouses, and analytics platforms to support the organization's data-driven initiatives. Evaluate and implement emerging technologies and tools to enhance data processing, integration, and visualization capabilities. Partner with business leaders, IT stakeholders, and data users to understand requirements and prioritize data governance and engineering initiatives. Collaborate with legal, compliance, and security teams to ensure data governance practices align with regulatory requirements and cybersecurity protocols. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to communicate data governance policies, initiatives, and achievements effectively. All other duties as assigned. Responsibilities/Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Proven experience (10+ years) in data governance, data management, and data engineering roles, with a track record of successful leadership and project delivery, and 5+ years leading people. In-depth knowledge of data governance principles, regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and industry standards (e.g., DAMA). Strong proficiency in data engineering technologies and tools, including ETL/ELT processes, SQL, data modeling, and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). Experience with data governance and engineering frameworks (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Apache Hadoop, Spark). Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
