VACANCY NOTICELIBRARY DIRECTORThe Town of Grafton, through its elected Board of Library Trustees, is seeking applications for a full-time, on-site position of Library Director. The Library Director is responsible for the management, operation, and leadership of all programs and services of the library in accordance with the policies as established by the Trustees.The Town completed a major library expansion in 2021, and this is an exciting opportunity to lead the library in its mission of life-long learning through programs, content, and community outreach. Our ideal Director would have diverse library experience and enthusiasm to work with our talented staff, engaged community, and dedicated Trustees to reimagine library services for our community in the newly expanded library.The Director’s responsibilities include:Plans, organizes, and manages all aspects of library services, operations and activities including material selection, de-selection and overall collection development, cataloging, circulation, reference, reader’s advisory, programs, and other technical library services.Manages a professional, unionized, staff consisting of full-time, part-time, and on-call employees.Leads initiatives as directed by the library’s mission statement and long-range plan.Provides visionary leadership to the library staff and fosters a positive and collaborative work environment.Advises, consults, and confers with the Trustees to develop and manage policy, goals, strategic planning, and budget.Prepares, presents, and administers the Library’s annual operating budget, including the expenses, equipment, and processing of the payroll and accounts payable.Prepares grant applications and seeks funding for operational and improvement programs.Serves as liaison to various town, civic, and community organizations, including schools.Supports Friends of the Grafton Public Library for programs and fund-raising opportunities.Qualifications for this position include:Master’s degree in Library and Information Science with 3-5 years of library administration experience or equivalent.Proven experience in library management, including budgeting, staff supervision, and strategic planning.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with diverse community members.Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within library services.This is a 35-hour a week, contract position with a salary range of $70,000 - $87,500 DOQ, and as such the Director will, from time to time and as required, attend nighttime or weekend programs, events, and meetings.Interested applicants should send a resume and cover letter to: Town Administrator’s Office, 30 Providence Road, Grafton, MA 01519, or by email to William Blake at: blakew@grafton-ma.gov.The Town of Grafton is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
