required to test through Public Safety Testing (PST). Lateral candidates meeting the qualifications listed below must complete the Personal History Statement (PHS) on the PST website. In addition to the PHS, applicants need to complete an online City of Battle Ground employment application at

$30,000 hiring bonus
as outlined below:$3,500 - first paycheck following successful completion of probation period$3,500 - first paycheck following successful completion of two-year anniversary$3,500 - first paycheck following successful completion of three-year anniversary$3,500 - first paycheck following successful completion of four-year anniversary$8,000 - first paycheck upon successful completion of five-year anniversaryTo be considered as a lateral police officer with the City of Battle Ground you must:Have successfully completed the Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Academy (BLEA) or out of state lateral applicants must meet requirements and qualifications set by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (CJTC) to attend the Basic Law Enforcement Equivalency Academy;Have 24 months or more of active law enforcement experience, andNot

The Battle Ground Police Department is a full-service, community-based law enforcement agency that consists of a total 29 department members who are committed to providing the highest possible level of service to our community. Sworn positions include Uniform Patrol, the Detective Division, the Traffic Unit, a School Resource Officer, a K-9 unit and assignments to the Southwest WA Regional SWAT Team. The department’s administration command staff includes the Chief of Police and two Police Lieutenants. The department is also supported by the positions of Administrative Assistant to the Chief, and a Police Support Services Unit.Our Mission

Lateral Police Officer salary range: Step 2 $7,014.23 - Step 5 at $8,009.56 per monthThe City of Battle Ground offers a generous benefit package that includes:Ninety-six (96) hours of annual leave to start,
prior years of commissioned law enforcement experience may be considered for a higher accrual rate.On-duty wellness time for Officers.Twelve (12) paid holidays (computed at time and a half and paid out annually in November).Membership in the LEOFF 2 retirement plan.Medical (PPO & HMO options), dental, vision and employee assistance program for employees and their family members.$10,000 basic term life insurance policy and a double indemnity for accidental death.A long-term disability policy.A wellness hour during each on-duty shift.The following incentives are also offered:Educational incentive pay: Associates Degree (2%) and Bachelors Degree (4%).Specialty pay of 3% for the following assignments: K-9, Detective, School Resource Officer, Traffic and SWAT.Longevity pay after 7 years of service in the department.All required uniforms and equipment are provided.Minimum Requirements
