We are hiring a Senior Economist to help improve our forecasting research, strategy and execution across Chime. This role will be part of our growing forecasting team and will engage with many teams across Chime including all of Data – Analytics, Data Science, ML Platform, Data Engineering, and our partners, including Finance, Marketing, Product, Risk, Member Services, and Strategy.In this role, you will own research and development of our most critical forecasts, which includes guiding analysts, data scientists, and platform engineers in the delivery of forecasts and infrastructure to support forecasting efforts. This role will involve execution, strategy, partnership, architecture, mentoring, and more, in support of Chime’s mission to help everyday people achieve financial peace of mind, together.This role can be remote, with regular engagement with teams based in San Francisco, CA.The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $216,800 and up to $307,100. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.In this role, you can expect toCollaborate with other researchers to explore, extend, and publish cutting edge probabilistic forecasting methodologies.Guide strategy and technical roadmaps for delivery of forecasts and their technical dependencies, including forecasting platforms, data engineering, and more.Effectively communicate and partner with senior leadership and the executive team on a regular basis.Guide investments in forecasting technology and practice to accelerate and improve our ability to anticipate the future, as well as to learn quickly when reality and predictions diverge.Develop new initiatives to cultivate best practices and skills development across the organization, and demonstrate those expectations in your own work.To thrive in this role, you haveCombination of advanced education and experience, with concentration in Statistics, Operations Research, Econometrics, or related areas:PhD and 5+ years, orMaster's degree and 8+ yearsDepth with advanced time series or econometric modeling, such as dynamic linear models, factor models, vector autoregression, and SEM.Solid foundation in probability and inference.At least 2 years of industry experience in forecasting.Preferably experience with scenario planning or goal optimization.Practical problem solver, and able to work well with technical and non-technical partners.Experience guiding scientific best practices, leading cross-functional technical initiatives, and experience working with platform engineering and data engineering partners.A passion for how forecasting can help deliver a better future.A little about usWe created Chime because we believe everyone deserves financial peace of mind.
