Job Posting for Field Archaeologist with Report Writing Ability at Scientific Consultant Services, Inc.Position Announcement: Field Archaeologist with Report Writing AbilityScientific Consultant Services, Inc. (SCS), is a locally owned, Hawaii-based cultural resource management (CRM) company that is currently accepting applications for the position of Field Archaeologist on the islands of Oahu and Maui. SCS is primarily seeking to hire on-island personnel, although other Hawaii resident and non-Hawaii resident applicants will be considered. This is a full-time position with 401k, medical, dental, and vision benefits provided following a satisfactory performance review of the initial 90-day probationary period. Wages are commensurate with the position and experience of the applicant. SCS is an equal opportunity employer. The goal is to hire an applicant seeking to remain long term in the SCS Oahu and Maui workforce.The desired applicant shall have a minimum of a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree in anthropology (specialization in archaeology) with at least two years of archaeological fieldwork conducting archaeological inventory surveys, data recovery work, and construction monitoring in the State of Hawaii.The following shall also be considered:Applicants with a graduate degree in anthropology (specialization in either archaeology, cultural anthropology, or physical anthropology) with a minimum of two years of archaeological fieldwork, regardless of regional study area.Applicants with a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science degree or graduate degree in either geography, geology, or history with a minimum of two years of archaeological fieldwork, regardless of regional study area.Applicants with a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree in anthropology (specialization in cultural anthropology or physical anthropology) and have at least one year of archaeological fieldwork, regardless of regional study area.The desired applicant shall possess familiarity with the nuances of Hawaii-based archaeology and be able to identify and document archaeological features and artifacts via stratigraphy, plan view maps, and Global Positioning Satellite (GPS). Attention to recording detail and communication are necessary. Following fieldwork, the applicant may be assigned to write the results of the fieldwork. Applicants without archaeological field or report writing experience in Hawaii shall be mentored by an SCS archaeologist.Time and task management are essential skills. Work shall necessitate shifting gears between concurrent projects and tasks. A valid driver’s license and the applicant’s own insured automobile are required. The applicant shall be able to perform their work independently and in a team setting, including working with other personnel encountered on the job site. Applicants must be legally documented to work within the United States. When necessary, travel to other Hawaiian Islands may be required.Consideration of applicants shall commence as soon as applications are received.
