A law firm in Alexandria, VA, is seeking an Electrical Patent Attorney with 1-5 years of patent prosecution experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Electrical Engineering and experience in patent drafting. This role involves handling all aspects of patent prosecution and offers opportunities for increasing levels of responsibility and movement into other areas of the firm's intellectual property practice.Key Responsibilities:Manage and execute patent prosecution tasks, including preparing and filing patent applications.Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.Conduct patent searches and analyses to support patent filings and strategy.Collaborate with inventors to understand and articulate technological innovations.Represent clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).Advise clients on patentability, freedom-to-operate, and infringement issues.Work closely with other attorneys and clients to develop and execute IP strategies.Stay updated on developments in patent law and technological advancements in the Electrical Engineering field.Participate in client meetings and provide strategic IP counsel.Requirements:1-5 years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm.Background in Electrical Engineering, with a solid understanding of the technical aspects of electrical inventions.Demonstrated experience in patent drafting and prosecution.Strong analytical and research skills.Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.Education:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.Certifications:Admission to the Bar in the state where the firm is located (Virginia).Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as a Patent Attorney.Skills and Abilities:Excellent patent drafting and prosecution skills.Strong technical background in Electrical Engineering.Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.Proficiency in patent search tools and patent management software.Ability to work collaboratively with clients and internal teams.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Location:Benefits Offered:Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.Retirement plan options, including a 401(k) plan.Paid time off and holidays.Professional development and continuing education opportunities.
