Summary about the job:Join our growing Accounting team with this newly created Billing Specialist role. This role will support our government and commercial contracts for timely billing, reporting, and collection of these contracts. What You'll Do:

Prepares, processes, and submits invoices to customers using government portals and other methods as required by the contract and customer.

Maintains a billing schedule and forecast to ensure that contracts are billed timely.

Develops and maintains receivable aging report for past due accounts and is responsible for investigation, analysis, escalation, and resolution to ensure timely payment.

Maintains and reconciles accounts receivable ledger accounts, financial statements, and reports on a monthly basis.

Responsible for cash collection forecast and ad hoc reporting of billing and collection efforts.

Assists with month-end close reconciliations.

Implements and maintains a process to split allowable vs. unallowable costs based on the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) guidance.

Establishes systems to streamline the government accounting process for travel and other expenses associated with government contracts.

Assists in the review of all expenses associated with projects and determines if they are reasonable in nature and follow all government accounting guidelines.

Plays an active role in government audits and maintains accountability records.

Prepares a variety of reports relative to unallowable and allowable spend.

Creates and accurately codes invoices aligned with company practices.

Here's Who You Are:

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.

2+ years of accounting experience.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, queries/macros, pivot tables, etc.).

Experience with financial accounting systems (Oracle, NetSuite).

High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
