www.peedeecog.orgSummary:Pee Dee Regional Council of Governments seeks a successor for our Finance Director. Designation as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) are requested. The employee must be willing to work under the supervision of the current Finance Director for an estimated period of 6-9 months. This position requires accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet multiple deadlines. Employee is expected to behave in an ethical and professional manner and respect the confidential nature of agency and employee records. This position carries full responsibility for the agency's financial security. Flexibility and availability will be needed to provide staff support to other departments. The Finance Director reports directly to the Executive Director.Education and Qualifications:Bachelor's degree (minimum) in accounting or finance is required. Prior experience in governmental fund accounting, budgeting, and/or auditing is required. Experience with administration of and reporting for federal grants is preferred. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel will be needed, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.Responsibilities and Duties:Duties will include, but not be limited to, payroll and related tax, retirement, and withholding reports; using fund accounting software to record journal entries; payables, receipts, and bank transactions; monthly, quarterly, and annual financial account closings; preparing grant reports in a timely manner; and preparing agency and grant budgets. This position will be required to assist with preparation for financial monitoring and annual audits. This position will be required to reconcile and pay invoices, enter data, and make deposits; however, the candidate must also possess an understanding of governmental audits, GASB statements, and federal grant requirements. The employee must be able to work independently and exercise professional judgment regarding accounting issues.Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Credit and background check will be required. Participation in CS Retirement System is a condition of employment.
