The Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing the compliance process of Federal and State individual, partnership, C- and S-corporations and trust tax returns, as well as identifying and solving ancillary tax issues, such as SALT and international, being involved in annual tax planning and research, and providing guidance and leadership to staff members.Responsibilities:Perform extensive tax research on complex tax issuesManage engagement team members to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and be a resource for team membersProvide guidance/mentorship to staff and assist them in developing technical skillsMaintain timely and accurate communication with team and clients to manage expectations, deadlines, and deliverablesBuild strong client relationships and ensure client needs are being metDemonstrate advanced technical aptitude of taxation and handle complex returns and projects with confidenceLead preparation of complex tax returns including: individuals, C-Corps, S-Corp, partnerships, trust, estate, etc. for clients in a variety of industriesReview the work of associates involving individual and corporate federal and state income tax returnsUtilize analytical and decision-making skills to solve complex technical issuesAbility to train new employees on firm technology, processes and proceduresSeek opportunities to participate in practice development to build a network of referral sourcesPresent new ideas and improvements for ways of performing tasks in order to achieve firm and departmental goalsQualifications:Master’s degree in Accounting/TaxationCPA licensed7+ years tax experience in a public accounting firm (at least 1+ year in Manager role)Strong analytical, research and critical thinking skillsAbility to make and support decisions regarding accounting and tax mattersAbility to perform and direct multiple engagementsExcellent communication and writing skillsAbility to mentor, lead, and train people and can adapt to different learning styles of othersExtensive knowledge of S-Corp and partnership returnsCCH Axcess software experienceAbility to work independently, but also in a team environmentHighly motivated, self-starter with ability to multitaskDoeren Mayhew is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
