Mann Institute (USC AMI) Managing Director of Research Investments will ensure that the institute meets its intended mission of seeding translational research in biomedicine and incubating start-ups and fostering the development of commercializable biomedical innovations. The managing director will serve as the sole general partner (GP) managing AMI as a venture capital fund that invests in companies associated with USC by virtue of a relationship between the company and a USC alumnus, staff, student, or faculty. The managing director will have established relationships with venture capital firms (VCs), venture capital general partners (VC GPs), individual limited partners (LPs), institutional LPs, and family offices that make investments in market sectors related to USC's academic and educational mission.Specific activities include:Make key strategic decisions on which ventures to invest in.Work closely with VCs and individual and institutional LPs.Identify VCs and individuals willing to lead investments in USC companies and support due diligence processes.Invest AMI funds in USC companies and work with lead investors on deal structure and terms.Facilitate liquidity events via IPOs, mergers, or secondary market sales.Coordinate with USC Advancement and other related offices and programs.Application:Please submit the following documents as attachments with your application:Resume/CV : Detailing your professional background, education, and relevant experience.Cover Letter : Explaining your interest in the position and your suitability.Portfolio : Showcasing previous investment deals and relevant projects.References : Contact details of at least three professional references.Preferred Documents:Case Studies : Descriptions of significant investments or deals managed.Investment Thesis : Outlining your approach to identifying investment opportunities.Strategic Plan : Proposed strategy for raising capital.Performance Metrics : Quantitative data demonstrating past performance.Successful candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to USC's Unifying Values of integrity, excellence, diversity, equity and inclusion, well-being, open communication, and accountability.The annual base salary range for this position is $275,767.44 - $310,000.00.
