Job Description

The Advanced Driver Assist Technology (ADAS) team develops state-of-the-art software and algorithms to deliver best-in-class features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and 360 camera systems. ADAS also developed Ford's industry-first Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and secured over 60 patents in the process. Our team is responsible for the full end-to-end delivery of these features into production on all Ford vehicle lines.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our global team. In this role, you will work alongside talented engineers to design, develop, and maintain Ford's Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) software. You will play a crucial role in creating high-performing ADAS software that runs reliably and safely on millions of customer vehicles.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...Collaborate with a global team of engineers to design, develop, and maintain Ford's ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) software stackCreate world-class high-performing ADAS software with a focus on safety and reliabilityWork as an individual contributor on an agile team, writing code, reviewing pull requests, and testing softwareTroubleshoot, debug, and improve existing softwareMentor and provide technical guidance to other team membersIdentify and implement software best practices for state estimation, perception, planning, and control algorithmsRefine software architecture to optimize resource utilization across multiple processing cores and hardware accelerators.Qualifications

Required Experience and Background Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field AND 5+ years of software engineering experience

OR

Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field AND 3+ years of software engineering experience

OR

Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field AND 1+ years of software engineering experienceAdvanced software engineering skills with professional experience writing C/C++ code and using at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash, JavaScript, Ruby)Experience launching and supporting software for hardware productsPassion for embedded software and a pragmatic mindset for solving challenging problemsEven better, you may have...

Preferred Experience and Background Skills:

Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software development life cycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and documentationAbility to build and maintain software systems using modern build and CI (Continuous Integration) infrastructure (e.g., Bazel, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)Experience with containerization and orchestration techniques to improve automation of software development activitiesGood understanding of inter-process communication, familiarity with ROS or other pub/sub systemsExperience with any linear algebra, geometry, or projection librariesAbility to operate effectively and autonomously across multiple teams and navigate technical ambiguity with only high-level directionExperience with Adaptive AUTOSARFamiliarity with embedded vision pipelines, image processing, and hardware components
