Job Posting: Welding Supervisor (Hands-On)
Location: Schaumburg, IL
Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (or 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Hunter is seeking a highly skilled Welding Supervisor to join our growing team and contribute to new foundry machine builds. This is a hands-on role designed for someone looking to step into a future Welding Manager position in a few years. While the welding team currently consists of just two members, this position will develop into a formal leadership role as the team grows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform MIG and TIG welding of steel parts and components for machine builds.
- Read and interpret technical drawings to ensure precise welding at specified angles.
- Use clamps, cutters, plasma cutters, and brake presses to position and weld parts.
- Lead the team informally with the potential to take on more formal supervisory responsibilities over time.
- Assist in fabrication and ensuring high-quality work on all projects.
Welding Test:
All candidates must pass an onsite welding test, which includes:
- Reading and assembling an 8-part drawing.
- Positioning parts using clamps and tools.
- Welding pieces together for inspection.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- 3-5 years of welding experience, with strong skills in MIG and TIG welding of steel (no stainless or aluminum).
- Sharp blueprint reading and fabrication skills.
- Experience using various welding tools (cutters, clamps, plasma cutters, brake presses).
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Technical education (Welding program graduate, two-year degree, or bachelor’s degree).
- Light supervisory experience.
- Stockroom experience (helpful for keeping operations moving).
