Screens gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytologic material; reviewing with pathologists all non-gynecologic and all atypical/abnormal gynecologic specimens.Performs specimen processing of cytologic material for evaluation by cytotechnologists and pathologists, according to Standard Operating Procedures, as necessary.Adheres to all QA/QC standards of the department; including submitting for peer review a random 10% of all negative gynecologic cases.Maintains an effective working relationship with pathologists.Participates in proficiency surveys and successfully completes federally mandated annual PT examination.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a science from an accredited school.Must be CLIA eligible for High Complexity Testing.Certification in Cytology, CT (ASCP or IAC).Minimum of 3 years cytology experience preferred.Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, an affiliate of Mass General Brigham, is committed to supporting patient care, research, teaching, and service to the community.
