Job Title: Assistant ProsecutorDepartment: Juvenile DivisionReports to: Juvenile Division ChiefSalary: Commensurate with experienceQUALIFICATIONS:Juris DoctorMember of the Ohio State BarExperience or specific interest in handling juvenile matters related to domestic violence and/or sex-related offenses preferred.LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Must be a lawyer in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court.Must be able to pass a criminal background check through the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation & Identification and Federal Bureau of Investigation.Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:Represent the State of Ohio in daily court hearings in Stark County Family Court.Manage juvenile delinquency cases from intake to final disposition.Review law enforcement reports and determine appropriate charges.Prepare cases for trial or plea negotiations by reviewing all evidence, facts, and communications with witnesses.Conduct legal research and analyze various legal issues.Prepare motions and legal briefs.Work professionally with defense attorneys, court personnel, law enforcement agencies, the Children’s Network, and the public.OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and other trainings as needed.Perform all other duties assigned, delegated, or required of the Assistant Prosecuting Attorney as well as those prescribed by law.BENEFITS OF EMPLOYMENT:County Benefits package, including access to Health/Dental insurancePaid CLE opportunitiesEligible for Federal Student Loan ForgivenessAPPLICATION PROCEDURE:
