Our staff are proudly committed to providing equal access to justice for San Diegans through aggressive, quality legal services. #JusticeBeginsHereJob Description/DutiesJob Title: Development Assistant (Temporary Position)Position SummaryLASSD is recruiting a temporary Development Assistant who is a confident self-starter and will be an active, contributing member of a dynamic leadership team; and one who is passionate about social justice. The Development Assistant will work with the Development Director to help implement and successfully achieve the goals of a comprehensive fundraising plan to generate and diversify revenue from individuals, foundations, and corporate sponsors. The Development Assistant will assist with administrative tasks related to LASSD Development needs, including but not limited to assisting with daily activities of LASSD development programs, supporting the Development Director in fundraising activities, and assisting with the implementation of marketing programs and special events to maximize prospect/donor engagement.Essential Functions:Record all gifts in an accurate and timely manner using CRM database. Prepare and send donor acknowledgement letters, while handling donor information securely and confidentially.Accurately pull reports and prepare donor lists in accordance with segmentation criteria.Assist Development Director with logistical, administrative, and event planning support for annual gala, including managing sponsorship benefits, ad solicitation, and vendor management.Coordinate department spending requests and vendor payments in collaboration with accounting.Compile and create donor packets and other marketing materials for prospective donor meetings.Help with annual appeal as directed by the Development Director, including scheduling emails and social media posts in collaboration with marketing.Conduct donor research as requested.Provide administrative support to the Development Director, Executive Management Team, and Board of Directors in fundraising and management activities.Perform other duties as assigned by the Development Director or Executive Management.Job CriteriaQualifications:B.A. degree or demonstrated equivalent experience in business, marketing, communications, or fundraising/development.Ability to navigate and manage data collection, entry, and analysis.Professional etiquette.Ability to prioritize and manage time.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.Ability to work independently, as well as support team efforts.Must have reliable transportation.Ability to work successfully with people from diverse backgrounds.Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Experience in fundraising and event planning.Proficient experience and knowledge in MS Office 360 programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Drive, and SharePoint).Preferred familiarity with Salesforce.Strong customer service skills.Demonstrated commitment to serving low-income people.Salary and Benefits:The temporary Development Assistant is a non-exempt, hourly position with a pay range of $21.98 - $30.77 per hour, with a starting rate of $25.27 per hour. The hours for this temporary position are negotiable and may range from part-time (20 hours per week) to full-time employment (35 hours per week). The expected duration of the position is from July 2024 to January 2025.Hybrid Work Environment:Legal Aid Society of San Diego (“LASSD”) has adopted a hybrid work environment in which most staff are required to work in the office part of the week and permitted to work remotely for the remainder of the week, provided their job duties allow. All employees must be available to travel to LASSD offices and service locations throughout San Diego County as needed and in compliance with public health advisories. Applicants must reside in or near San Diego County or plan to relocate in or near the County prior to their start date and must be able to commute to the physical Legal Aid Society of San Diego office locations or service delivery locations within San Diego County. LASSD’s normal business hours are 9am-5pm, but we are open to providing flexible work schedules to the extent feasible for the position.
