Senior Staff Accountant (Hartford, CT, NYC, Atlanta or Chicago)
Location: Hartford, CT, NYC, Atlanta or Chicago | 80K - 105K Base + Bonus + Benefits PackageWe are currently recruiting for a Senior Staff Accountant located in Hartford, CT, NYC, Atlanta or Chicago. Hybrid schedule in-office 2 days per week required. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of corporate and/or public accounting experience, ideally technical accounting within the Insurance Industry. The Senior Staff Accountant will engage in various aspects of the accounting function, including reinsurance accounting operations. The position offers a base salary of 80K - 105K + Bonus + full benefits package.Manage reinsurance accounting operations, including accounting, reconciliation, adjustments, settlements, and maintenance of the reinsurance system.Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.Oversee technical accounting operations related to gross underwriting activities.Perform IFRS 17 related data quality checks to ensure completeness and accuracy.Complete periodic group reporting and related disclosures.Develop and implement controls over related processes, focusing on efficiency, accuracy, thorough documentation and process improvement initiatives.Support external financial audit, actuarial audit, and other regulatory requests.Assist with system updates testing related to technical accounting.Take on other assigned projects.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; CPA is a plusA minimum of 3-5 years of experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or a combination of both; experience in the insurance industry a plusStrong knowledge and research capabilities in IFRS/GAAP and Statutory principles a plusStrong analytical and quantitative skills.Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, knowledge of SQL, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites and corporate ERP systems.Ability to identify patterns and variances in complex data sets and processes, rapidly distilling key issues and providing insight in various scenarios.Detail-oriented and results-driven with a high degree of accuracy.Team player and self-motivated.Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.No sponsorship. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident (green card holder).
